Sevgi Gözcü, the owner of a 4-storey apartment building in AVCILAR, requested an urban transformation meeting with her 12 neighbors. Stating that the current management did not take into account the meeting requests, Gözcü reacted to the situation by stating that an agreement could not be reached on the two contractors. Gözcü, who wanted his voice to be heard, held a sit-in protest in front of the building where he lived for 14 hours. Gözcü's brother, who came in front of the building, dissuaded him from his protest.
The incident took place on Tuesday, July 14, in a 4-storey apartment building in Merkez District. Flat owner Sevgi Gözcü, along with her 12 neighbors, said that many buildings in the surrounding area were renewed within the scope of urban transformation, and requested that the same process be started for her own buildings. Gözcü, who conveyed his request for a meeting to the building management, claimed that he did not receive a positive response. Thereupon, Gözcü started a sit-in protest to convince the building management for urban transformation. Gözcü, who came in front of the apartment building where he lived, started a one-man sit-in protest in front of the building to demand that his demands be met.
'THERE IS AN INSISTANCE SAYING "WE WILL HAVE IT DONE BY A CONTRACTOR"'
Sevgi Gözcü said, "I am the owner of a flat in this building. We, 12 people, requested a meeting, but it was not accepted. We have had this request for more than a month, but it is still not accepted. I will continue my protest here until my request is accepted. We have a problem with urban transformation. We cannot agree on the contractor, we request a meeting to ensure the majority. There are 12 people who support the meeting. The only opposition is the management, that is, a group of 4 people. I will stay here day and night, I will not go. Private "I will only go there to meet my needs. I am here day and night. Even though we have 2 contractors who will build the building, there is an insistence saying 'We will have it done by a contractor'. We said 'No, there are 2 contractors, let's vote and decide according to the results'."
Gözcü's one-man sit-in protest was published on a virtual media page in Avcılar. Supporting building residents met with Gözcü and stated that they would collect signatures for the change of management and that they wanted the new management to act on urban transformation. On the other hand, Gözcü's brother came to the scene of the protest, expressed his discomfort and said that his sister should give up the protest. Upon his brother's insistence, Gözcü ended the sit-in protest, which he started at around 10:00 in the morning, 14 hours later. At the insistence of his brother Gözcü, he agreed to stay away from Avcılar for a while.
