Grain purchasing by the Soil Products Office (TMO) in Bafra district of Samsun continues.
Bafra Chamber of Agriculture President Osman Tosuner stated to the AA correspondent that they continue to purchase products in the warehouse determined by TMO in the district.
Stating that the purchasing process is progressing as planned, Tosuner said, "TMO ships approximately 1200 tons from Bafra to Samsun with 45 trucks a day. This shipment prevents our producers in the region from suffering. The TMO branch here purchases the product coming from 19 Mayıs, Alaçam, Bafra and Yakakent districts." he said.
Pointing out that the barley and wheat cultivated area in the Bafra Plain is around 270 thousand decares, Tosuner said, "When we include 19 Mayıs, Alaçam and Yakakent districts, this figure reaches 400 thousand decares. TMO will purchase nearly 300 thousand tons of barley and wheat in Bafra." he said.
Providing information about prices and product quality, Tosuner said, "Barley is purchased from producers registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) at prices of 12 thousand 700 liras per ton, and wheat is purchased at prices between 14 thousand 800 and 16 thousand 500 liras per ton, depending on its quality. Daily purchase has reached 1200 tons. This year, due to the hot weather conditions, there is no moisture problem in the product." he said.
