Minister of Internal Affairs Mustafa Çiftçi attended the ceremony held at the Police Special Operations Directorate within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Ankara Provincial Police Chief Maksut Yüksek, families of martyrs and veterans also attended the commemoration program held at Gölbaşı Campus. In the commemoration program, Minister Çiftçi left a carnation on the monument, followed by a recitation of the Holy Quran.
Speaking here, Minister Çiftçi said, "We are in the 10th year of the FETO coup attempt, which infiltrated our state with insidious intentions and attempted treason on the night of July 15. One of the heaviest prices of that night, when our Gazi Parliament, Presidential Complex and Special Operations Directorate were targeted, was paid in Gölbaşı. Our Police Special Operations Directorate entrusted its heroic sons to the ground for the sake of the country. The voice that rose here that night was not of fear, but of courage and surrender." "It became a symbol of resistance," he said.
Stating that on the night of July 15, the nation stood without hesitation against a dark treason network that wanted to enslave its will, Çiftçi said, "Millions who filled the streets, young and old, women and men, defended their flag, call to prayer and state. The determined leadership put forward by our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, combined with the unshakable will of our nation, turned into a great resistance that changed the course of history. That night, the whole world stood up to the will and state of this beloved nation." "He has seen once again that his freedom cannot be shackled," he said.
Addressing the families of martyrs and veterans, the farmer said, "You are the trust of our blessed martyrs to us. We cannot relieve the longing in your hearts, but our state is always with you, the prayers of our nation will always be with you. The trusts of our martyrs are the crown of our honor. Our heroic veterans, you are the living legends of this nation. Your sacrifice is the very consciousness that makes the lands we live on a homeland. Our state "You will always have a special place in our nation's memory and hearts," he said.
Minister Çiftçi said, "July 15 cannot be seen as an incident that happened in the past and is closed. What happened that night is a great lesson that should always be kept alive in the memory of the state. Because treason can change shape. Terrorist organizations can emerge with different names.
