A commemoration ceremony was held at the martyrs' cemetery in Bolu on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Grieving father Metin Özen, whose son Police Officer Ozan Özen was martyred in the treacherous coup attempt of July 15, said, "They say time heals everything, but the pain is still the same for us."
The commemoration program held at Bolu Martyrs' Cemetery started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem. The ceremony continued with the recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers read for the martyrs by Bolu Provincial Mufti Hüseyin Demirtaş. At the end of the program, where emotional moments were experienced, protocol members and citizens visited the martyrs' graves one by one and left red carnations on them.
Metin Özen, father of Police Officer Ozan Özen, who was martyred in the coup attempt on the night of July 15, 2016, shared his feelings at his son's grave. Emphasizing that the pain of a child is as fresh as the first day, father Özen said, "The pain is the same. It has been 10 years. They say time heals everything, but the pain is still the same for us. We have nothing to do."
