While most of the fires that broke out in the last 24 hours in Algeria have been taken under control, activities to extinguish 9 fires in 7 provinces continue.
In the statement made by the General Directorate of Civil Defense of Algeria, it was stated that 124 of the 133 fires detected in the last 24 hours were completely extinguished.
It was reported that the intervention to 9 fires in the provinces of Becaye, Buira, Setif, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbas, Mila and Tizi Vizu continues.
It has been reported that there has been no loss of life in the fires that have broken out since last week.
Firefighting activities continue under a severe heat wave, with temperatures exceeding 45 degrees in some parts of the country.
In the statement made by the Algerian Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was stated that the firefighting activities were carried out under the direct supervision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Said Sayud.
In addition to mobile teams, fire trucks and expert teams affiliated with the General Directorate of Civil Defense, flame extinguishing planes and helicopters also participate in extinguishing activities.
It was stated that the Algerian army, security units, General Directorate of Forestry teams and local governments also participated in the activities to extinguish and control the fires.
More than 300 fires have been recorded in forests, bushes, scrub areas, agricultural lands and date groves in Algeria since July 9.
Large areas were damaged in the fires that broke out simultaneously with the heat wave that affected the northern regions of the country.
While the risk of forest fires has increased in Algeria in recent years due to drought and increased temperatures, dozens of people have died or been injured in large-scale fires and large forest areas have been damaged.
