CHP Istanbul Deputy Zeynel Emre stated that they will apply to the Civil Court of Peace tomorrow to request the formation of a call committee to convene the extraordinary congress.
At the press conference he held in the Parliament, Emre stated that they made evaluations about the agenda and internal party situations in the meeting they held in the Parliament under the chairmanship of CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel.
Referring to the programs that Özel held last week, Emre stated that the public has interest and support for Özel.
Explaining that politics cannot be done against the people, that they will continue to do politics with the people and plan the future with them, Emre touched upon the case regarding the "Imamoğlu profit-oriented criminal organization" and evaluated what happened in the last hearing of the case.
At the hearing, Emre claimed that the arrested defendant Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his post as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was not given enough time to defend himself, and noted that İmamoğlu also objected to this situation.
Emre explained that in the press conferences they held after the decision of the appeal regarding the CHP 38th Ordinary Congress, they made evaluations that their party may be in danger of not being able to enter the elections due to the law, due to not holding a congress for 6 years.
Underlining that they cannot take such a risk, Emre said, "Therefore, it seems that preparations must be made in case of a possible 'prevention of participation in the elections'." he said.
Emre also reminded of their application to the Supreme Court regarding the decision of the appeal and noted that they expect a "lawful decision" from the Supreme Court.
Stating that the Supreme Court should make its decision before the judicial recess, and that they also discussed different options, Emre said, "In this context, we are making some preparations not to leave our people without a choice, regardless of the decision, against the risk of losing their eligibility to participate in the elections." he said.
Emre stated that they are not helpless and without options and said, "We tell this to our people at every meeting, they did not leave us alone, and we will never leave them alone. We will walk this path together because the path we walk is the path of power. We will carry out this march." He said his words.
Noting that they will exhaust every option within the party, Emre argued that the CHP Party Assembly collapsed with the resignations, and explained that they collected enough signatures from the delegates for the extraordinary congress and notified it to the CHP Headquarters.
"We see that these deadlines have also been exceeded. Therefore, as we see that the legal period has passed since the notification, we will apply to the Civil Court of Peace as of tomorrow regarding both titles. It is clear what will be done there if the necessary is not done. An application is made to the Civil Court of Peace and a call committee is requested to be formed here to hold a congress. When this discussion was going on before, there were those who wanted to take the matter elsewhere, no 'trustee is wanted', no what... These have nothing to do. To the Civil Court of Peace "You are applying. A call committee of 3 people only serves to hold a congress. They cannot make any payments or take any action other than salaries. They can neither dismiss nor appoint, but only take the party to the congress. We will make our application for this purpose as of tomorrow."
Stating that there are people from all over Türkiye who want to support them, Emre warned citizens against fraudsters who want to take advantage of this situation.
Emre also stated that there are no donation campaigns anywhere in Türkiye and that anything that is not announced should not be relied upon.
Upon a journalist's question about US President Donald Trump, who came to Türkiye as part of the NATO Summit, not visiting Anıtkabir, he argued that Trump was not at peace with the Republic and national sovereignty, and that is why they did not find it surprising that he did not visit.
Regarding the detention of Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of "criminal organization", "bribery" and "tender rigging", Emre stated that they believe that Güner is innocent and that they stand behind him.
