Bringing together the common historical heritage of Istanbul and Brussels with comic strips, the "9eme Art Nouveau - Art Nouveau in Comic Book Art" exhibition met with art lovers at Beyoğlu Istiklal Art Gallery.
Deputy Mayor of Beyoğlu Municipality Sefer Karaahmetoğlu and Consul General of the Kingdom of Belgium in Istanbul Tim Van Anderlecht attended the opening of the exhibition hosted by Beyoğlu Municipality and prepared in partnership with the Consulate General of Belgium in Istanbul.
At the ceremony, the deep-rooted historical ties of the two countries and the importance of deepening cultural cooperation were emphasized.
The exhibition deals with the Art Nouveau movement, which was influential throughout the world at the end of the 19th century, and reinterprets this movement through comic books, which are considered the "9th Art".
This special selection, curated by Melanie Andrieu on behalf of the Belgian Comics Centre, aims to keep the common heritage dynamic and preserve through comics art.
The exhibition can be seen free of charge at Beyoğlu Istiklal Art Gallery until July 26.
