Manisa Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Karayılan visited the production areas in Emcelli District within the scope of the district program and met with the producers.
Provincial Director Karayılan examined the harvest activities of the geographically marked Emcelli Pepper, which is grown from Ata seed and named after the Emcelli District where it is produced, and received information about the cultivation process, productivity status and harvest activities from the producer Nurullah Akbay.
During the visit, Karayılan was accompanied by Provincial Deputy Director of Agriculture and Forestry Serdar Mersinli and Sarıgöl District Agriculture and Forestry Director Ahmet Akar.
It was stated that the added value of Emcelli Pepper, which attracted great attention in Manisa and its surroundings with its unique bitterness, bright red color and unique aroma, increased even more thanks to its geographical indication registration. It was stated that the geographically indicated product both contributes to the protection of local genetic resources and provides significant economic income to the regional producer.
Manisa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry officials stated that activities aimed at protecting geographically indicated products, transferring ancestral seeds to future generations and supporting sustainable agricultural production will be continued with determination. - MANISA
