15 July Democracy and National Unity Day events started with a visit to the Çorum Martyrs' Cemetery and the graves of the 15 July martyrs.
Çorum Governor Ali Çalgan visited the grave of Ali Karslı, who was martyred while resisting FETO member terrorists who attacked TÜRKSAT's Gölbaşı campus to interrupt broadcasts during the coup attempt, in Hıdırlık Cemetery.
Çalgan and Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın, Chief Public Prosecutor Ahmet Bektaş, Provincial Police Chief Arif Pehlivan, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Kubilay Ayvaz left carnations on Karslı's grave.
Here, Provincial Mufti Şahin Yıldırım prayed for Karsli and other martyrs.
Deputy Governor Yeliz Mercan, together with Çorum Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın, visited the grave of 21-year-old Mustafa Avcu, who was martyred as a result of tank fire opened in front of the General Staff during the treacherous coup attempt, in Eskikaradona village.
