600 children studying at summer Quran courses in Çorum memorized the Holy Quran in 60 seconds by reading the pages determined for them at the same time.
The "Quran Marshmallow with 600 Children in 60 Seconds" event was organized by the municipality for the martyrs on the occasion of July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day.
At the event at Çorum Martyrs' Cemetery, 600 children studying in summer Quran courses read the Quran pages determined for them at the same time. The children completed the reading in one minute.
Governor Ali Çalgan, Mayor Halil İbrahim Aşgın, Chief Public Prosecutor Ahmet Bektaş and Hitit University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk also read the Quran with the children.
After the event, Provincial Mufti Şahin Yıldırım made the hatim prayer.
Governor Çalgan and his entourage then laid carnations on the graves in the martyrs' cemetery and prayed for the martyrs.
Mayor Aşgın told journalists that July 15 was a day when the terrorist organization FETO suffered a great blow and the people wrote a heroic epic.
Stating that they want to hold an event at the martyrs' cemetery within the framework of commemoration activities, Aşgın said:
"Because we can best feel our values such as homeland, nation and flag in martyrdom. If the will is ours and the youth is ours, 'How can we revive our youth and our future?' We thought and this nice idea emerged. We wanted to meet with our 600 children who have learned to read the Quran in a very short time, in 60 seconds, in one of the most sacred places of Çorum, at the martyrs' cemetery, and to memorize 600 pages of the Holy Quran in one minute by giving one page to each person. "Here, under the shadow of Çorum's largest Turkish flag, in the spiritual presence of our 19 martyrs, at the foot of our minaret, our bureaucracy, members of the Religious Affairs Directorate and our children met and, thank God, we made our marshmallow in 1 minute."
