Under the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Hamed bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar quickly became a prosperous country and a listened to and valued actor in the world. The foundation of relations based on the law of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity between Turkey and Qatar was also laid during the leadership of the late Sheikh Hamed bin Khalifa Al Thani. "Sheikh Hamed bin Khalifa Al Thani's statesmanship, wise personality that inspired his region and the Islamic world, the value he gave to the development of Turkey-Qatar relations, his efforts for the peace of the Islamic world, the stability of our region and the welfare of the Qatari people will always be remembered with appreciation. On behalf of the Turkish Government and myself, I wish God's mercy to the deceased who served Qatar for many years, and I offer my condolences to the friendly and brotherly people of Qatar, whose pain I share wholeheartedly on this sad day."
