Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and his accompanying delegation visited Latakia, Syria, with the TCG Istanbul frigate.
In the statement made by the Ministry of National Defense, "Within the framework of developing cooperation between our country and Syria and restructuring the Syrian Armed Forces, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu and our accompanying delegation visited Latakia/Syria with the TCG Istanbul frigate on July 13, 2026. Upon his arrival in Latakia, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu was welcomed at the dock by the Syrian Naval Forces Commander Brigadier General Muhammed El Saud, while each "Inter-delegation meetings were held by the two commanders. Within the scope of the meetings in which our Damascus Ambassador Nuh Yılmaz also took part, inspections were made at the Latakia Military Port."
