The "15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Center" was opened in Diyarbakır.
Speaking at the opening program in Dağkapı Square in the central Yenişehir district, Governor Murat Zorluoğlu stated that he remembered the martyrs with gratitude and mercy on the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, one of the greatest betrayals that these ancient lands and nation have witnessed.
Stating that they have prepared a comprehensive program as the Governorship in this context, Zorluoğlu said:
"This year, our Presidency Directorate of Communications set up these tents in all metropolitan cities and provinces. These tents contain very important information, data and images about that dark night. We all know that night. Those images are still fresh in our memories. Because many of us experienced those images ourselves. It is important that we convey the details of this night to our children and young people. In order not to be faced with such coup attempts and attacks on our national will again, we, as a nation, should not forget these painful experiences with our children, young people and elderly people, We have to keep it alive in our minds and memories."
Zorluoğlu stated that the center they will open will be open to visitors for 3 days.
Stating that a commemoration event will be held in front of the Governorship on July 15, Zorluoğlu said, "Together, from Diyarbakır, we will show once again that we stand by our will, our elected government and our Parliament. In this regard, I invite all our citizens to participate in the program on July 15. I hope that this country and our beloved nation will never face such painful coup attempts again." he said.
Following the speech, prayers were said for those who lost their lives in the July 15 coup attempt and the center was opened.
Governor Zorluoğlu and the guests visited the commemoration center and the art exhibition and watched the video about the night of the coup attempt.
Diyarbakır 8th Main Jet Base Commander Brigadier General Burak Özan, Provincial Police Chief Nurettin Gökduman, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Tarık Hekimoğlu, Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor Erdal Kuruçay, Dicle University Rector Prof. attended the program. Dr. Kamuran Eronat, AK Party Diyarbakır Provincial Chairman Hamit Sümer, institution representatives and guests attended.
