Erciyes University (ERÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Altun published a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
In his message, Altun reminded that the treacherous coup attempt carried out by members of the terrorist organization FETO on July 15, 2016 was eliminated by the beloved Turkish nation, which has written epics throughout its history, and that the nation showed its unshakable unity and solidarity to the whole world.
Pointing out that the nation defended its state and democracy on the night of July 15, Altun said, "The Turkish nation, which has written countless epics in its glorious history, went to the squares that night, men and women, young and old, and defended its independence, state and democracy, and wrote an unforgettable heroic epic." he said.
Emphasizing that those who attack the indivisible integrity of their homeland will not be able to achieve their treacherous goals today, just like yesterday, Altun said:
"The dear Turkish nation will never forget Ömer Halisdemir, Cennet Yiğit, Kübra Doğanay and our 251 dear martyrs, who drank the sherbet of martyrdom for the sake of their homeland, flag and nation on that treacherous night. As members of Erciyes University, we support our young generations who embrace national and spiritual values, are loyal to democratic values, and serve their country and nation while carrying out our educational and scientific activities in the light of science. "We will continue to tell the heroic epic that the Turkish nation wrote that night, just as we did yesterday."
