In Erzincan, the "15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Center", prepared for the 10th anniversary of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day, was opened with a ceremony.
The opening of the center, which was established at the Provincial Public Library under the leadership of the Governorship and under the coordination of the Presidency Directorate of Communications Erzincan Regional Directorate, was attended by Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydoğdu, 3rd Army Chief of Staff and Garrison Commander Major General Murat Ataç, Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University Rector Prof. Dr. Akın Levent, public institution managers, political party representatives and representatives of non-governmental organizations attended.
After the opening ribbon was cut, protocol members visited the digital projection applications, chronological memory area, and photo and book exhibitions describing the night of July 15 and received information from the authorities.
Making a statement to journalists, Governor Aydoğdu said that the center was prepared so that the July 15 coup attempt would not be forgotten and would be passed on to future generations.
Stating that the center tells about the resistance of the nation in unity and solidarity, not the pain of the coup attempt, Aydoğdu invited citizens to visit the commemoration center.
Stating that the difficult processes that Türkiye has experienced in the past should be well understood, Aydoğdu said, "If we understand well the difficulties that the Republic of Turkey has gone through and can pass this on to the next generations, we will have fulfilled an important responsibility in order to prevent similar betrayals." he said.
Drawing attention to the importance of unity and solidarity, Aydoğdu emphasized that loyalty to the state and flag is the greatest power against all kinds of threats.
Stating that they commemorate the July 15 martyrs with mercy and gratitude, Aydoğdu wished the veterans a healthy and long life.
Digital projection applications, virtual reality experience, chronological memory area and photography and book exhibition in the center can be visited until July 16. - ERZİNCAN
