Allegedly, the incident took place the other day at Marmara Park AVM. Müjgan Özdemir took her 8-year-old autistic child, Toprak, to the sand park in the shopping mall to play as usual. Toprak was excited when he saw the playground and couldn't wait to get in. Mother Müjgan Özdemir explained to the playground attendant that her child had a special situation due to his excited movements. However, mother Müjgan Özdemir was very disappointed when the officer said that he could not take Toprak, who has autism, to the playground. Özdemir, who recorded those moments with his mobile phone, encountered the physical intervention of the officer. A fight broke out between mother Müjgan Özdemir and the playground attendant. Those moments were captured on camera.
Explaining what happened, mother Müjgan Özdemir said, "The shopping mall sand park is a place my child always goes to. This time, when she acted excitedly, I had to quietly tell the girl that she had autism. The girl said with different attitudes that she could not let me in. Despite all my child's struggles, the girl said she could never take it in. So I had to record a video and share it. While I was recording there, the girl attacked me. She tried to hit my phone. Then, she said things like, "If this child enters here, I will leave this workplace." "There was a fight," he said.
Özdemir said that the owner of the business called him in the evening and said, "He said that he had just heard about the incident, that they never accepted such discrimination, that he wanted to apologize to Toprak, that he could come and play whenever he wanted and as much as he wanted. It made me very happy that he approached him like this."
Explaining the desperation she experienced, mother Özdemir said, "People can do anything when they have children. I was helpless at that moment. I wanted to scream as loud as I could. We are already going through very difficult things. I wanted to say, 'Don't make life more difficult. In fact, my screams and raising my voice there were due to my desperation.'" - ISTANBUL
