It was revealed that the "private operatives" of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) acted in coordination among the security, IT and civil administration structures to ensure the success of the coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

Even though 10 years have passed since the July 15 coup attempt, new information and confessions continue to emerge regarding what happened that night. The messages reflected in the court minutes revealed that the organization acted systematically and in coordination to ensure the coup attempt went smoothly. One of the examples of this coordination was the instructions of FETO's so-called security chief Temel Alsancak.

"Do not resist the soldiers who carried out the coup" instruction

On July 15, a message was delivered to FETO member police officers from Temel Alsancak, the so-called police chief of the organization. In the message, the instruction was given: "Do not resist the soldiers who carried out the coup, do not clash with the soldiers."

It was stated that the message in question was intended to prevent FETO member police officers from resisting the coup plotter soldiers and to prevent the intervention of the security forces against the coup attempt. The instruction sent via WhatsApp was revealed through the confessions in the social media posts of confidential officials operating under Temel Alsancak.

The IT structure organized the raids on broadcasting organizations

The coordination between FETO's secret structures was not limited to the police structure. The IT structure of the organization organized the raids on broadcasting organizations such as TRT, TÜRKSAT and Digiturk. Civilian engineers affiliated with the organization took part in raids on broadcasting organizations in Ankara and Istanbul under the control of their so-called "brothers". These activities aimed to control the public's information channels and direct public opinion in the way the coup plotters wanted.

Some members of the organization within FETO's civil administration structure also tried to fulfill the duties assigned to them on the night of the coup. Some FETO-affiliated civil administrators working in different regions of Anatolia tried to prevent the reading of salas calling citizens to the squares against the coup attempt and to silence the salas. Thus, different structures of the organization carried out simultaneous and coordinated activities in their areas of responsibility to ensure the success of the coup attempt.

Perception operation plan for the post-coup period

The coordination within the organization was not limited to the night of the coup. It was revealed that FETO made various plans for the aftermath of the coup attempt. Ebuseleme Gülen, the nephew of the leader of the organization, Fetullah Gülen, confessed one of these plans in his statements on YouTube. According to Ebuseleme Gülen's statements, long-term perception operations were planned for children and young people after July 15 with the money collected by fugitive FETO executives Adil Öksüz and Mustafa Özcan.

With the instructions given by Fetullah Gülen himself, it was aimed for a team to act under the control of Adil Öksüz to carry out information activities against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The team, which was planned to be established under the control of Adil Öksüz, was planned to design games and animations that aimed to defame President Erdoğan and portray the July 15 coup attempt as a justified and "savior" initiative. - ANKARA
