Deep cracks and collapses in the asphalt in the Kızıliniş area of the Tokat-Sivas highway reduced transportation to a single lane.
Following the rains in the spring months, there was a slip on the ground in the Kızıliniş location of the Tokat-Sivas highway. The deformation, which initially appeared as small cracks, grew over time and turned into meter-long cracks and collapses in a wide section of asphalt. At some points of the road, it was seen that the asphalt layer was completely separated and the bottom filling material was revealed. In the area viewed from the air with the drone, it was noted that there were significant settlements and deep cracks in two lanes of the road. It was observed that the asphalt was separated by tens of centimeters in places and the collapse continued to progress. While the damaged section is surrounded by traffic bollards by the highways teams, vehicle passage is provided in a single lane in a controlled manner, using the opposite lane. The deformation of the ground is increasing day by day, especially on the route where heavy tonnage vehicles pass. Citizens living in the region and drivers using the road stated that it was worrying that the cracks were gradually growing and asked for permanent repair activities to be started as soon as possible to prevent a possible accident. While it is learned that the authorities are carrying out a technical inspection in the region, comprehensive strengthening and repair activities are expected to be carried out to completely restore the road to its former safety. - SLAP
