At Hakkari State Hospital Brain and Nerve Surgery Clinic, an aneurysm detected in one of the main vessels feeding the brain of a 72-year-old patient was treated with a successful microsurgical operation.
A 72-year-old male patient, who applied to Hakkari State Hospital with complaints of headache and dizziness, was evaluated by the neurosurgery clinic. During detailed examinations, an aneurysm, also known as a vascular bubble, was detected in the branching region of the right middle cerebral artery, one of the main vessels feeding the brain, regardless of the patient's complaints. It was stated that brain aneurysms can remain silent for a long time without giving any symptoms, but if they rupture, they can cause serious brain hemorrhages that are life-threatening. After evaluating the patient's current findings, a decision for surgical treatment was made.
In the operation, the aneurysm was accessed by opening a small window in the skull using microsurgical techniques. The vascular bubble was successfully closed by removing it from circulation using a surgical method called "clipping". Postoperative angiographic examinations revealed that the aneurysm was completely closed. While the patient did not experience any loss of strength or sensation after the operation, he was discharged in good health on the second day of the surgery, as his general condition remained good.
