Potato harvest, which started in Afyonkarahisar's Sandıklı district, made producers happy with its kilogram price this year.
Potato harvest has started in Sandıklı, one of Türkiye's important potato production centers. Potatoes are harvested by machines in the fields and prepared for sale by filling them into sacks. The products are then loaded onto trucks and shipped to many provinces of Türkiye, especially Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya.
This year, potatoes were planted on an area of over 35 thousand decares by more than 800 producers in the district. The potatoes, which were sold in the field for about 5 liras per kilogram last year, found buyers for 20 to 25 liras this year, which pleased the producers. The harvest is expected to continue in the district for about 4 more months.
Potato producer Necati Aydoğan stated that they have started harvesting and that they are satisfied with the yield and prices. - AFYONKARAHİSAR
