NEW DELHI, July 16 (Xinhua) -- India has instructed ship owners, ship managers and recruitment companies to refrain from deploying Indian seafarers on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In the instruction issued late on Wednesday by the Directorate General of Maritime Affairs of India, India's highest maritime authority, it was stated that the risks faced by sailors and commercial ships operating in the conflict-affected region have increased significantly due to attacks on commercial ships in the last few days.
The renewed conflicts between the USA and Iran have increased tension in the Middle East, especially in the Strait of Hormuz.
In the attacks on ships in the region in the last three days, 2 Indian sailors lost their lives and more than one person was injured.
