NEW DELHI, July 15 (Xinhua) -- India announced that it strongly condemns the attacks on two ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
It was reported that at least one Indian citizen lost his life and two were seriously injured in the attacks on MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa ships, which had a total of 30 Indian sailors on board.
In a statement made on Tuesday, India's Ministry of External Affairs also condemned acts of violence targeting seafarers and disrupting free and safe navigation on international waterways.
"We reiterate once again that we are deeply concerned about the resumption of attacks and escalation of conflicts in the West Asian region, and we call for an immediate end to violence and a return to dialogue and diplomacy for the peace, security and stability of the region," the statement said.
The statement also emphasized that attacks on commercial ships and civilian infrastructure must end in order to re-establish free and unimpeded navigation and trade in international waterways in the region as soon as possible in accordance with international law.
