Teams from the İzmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command seized approximately 2.5 million TL worth of smuggled alcohol and tobacco products in 8 separate operations conducted over the last 15 days. Judicial proceedings were initiated against 14 suspects.
Under the coordination of the İzmir, Torbalı, and Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, operations carried out in the districts of Buca, Bornova, Konak, Çiğli, and Torbalı resulted in the seizure of 5,100 liters of ethyl alcohol, 16,000 cigarette tubes, 1,000 TAPDK excise stamps, 1,240 packs of smuggled cigarettes, and 60 kilograms of tobacco. The market value of the seized illicit products was stated to be approximately 2,500,000 TL. Within the scope of the operations, an illicit ethyl alcohol production facility operating at 3 different addresses was also uncovered, while judicial proceedings were initiated against the 14 apprehended suspects.
