Combine harvester operators were warned before harvest in Bilecik's Bozüyük district.
An informative activity was held in Karaağaç village of Bozüyük district to prevent field fires caused by combine harvesters during the harvest period. In the information given by Bilecik Provincial Gendarmerie Command officials to combine harvester operators and field owners, the measures to be taken to minimize the risk of flames were explained. In this context, it was reminded that the daily maintenance and checks of the combine harvesters should be carried out completely, the straw, grass and dust accumulated in the engine and exhaust area should be cleaned, and at least 2 6-kilogram flame extinguishing tubes should be kept on the vehicle in working condition. It was also emphasized that refueling should be done in a safe area after the engine is stopped, harvesting should not be started if there is a malfunction or leakage in the electrical and fuel systems, and that one should work more carefully in extremely hot and windy weather. During the information activity, warnings were made not to leave materials that could cause fire, such as cigarette butts and glass bottles, in the fields, to keep a water tanker, tractor or plow ready if possible, and to notify the 112 Emergency Call Center without delay in case of a possible flame.
On the other hand, Bilecik Provincial Gendarmerie Command officials stated that fires that may occur during the harvest period can be prevented to a large extent by taking simple precautions. - BİLECİK
