According to CBC news, a lawsuit was heard in Canada regarding "sexual assault and forcible detention" charges against Nygard.
Accordingly, Nygard pleaded guilty and offered no evidence for the defense. The court found Nygard guilty.
Nygard, the founder of the clothing brand Nygard International, has been accused of using his wealth and influence in the United States and Canada to sexually assault and traffic women for many years.
Nygard resigned as chairman of the board in 2020 after US authorities raided the company's headquarters in New York.
The former businessman was sentenced to 11 years in prison in Toronto in 2023 for sexually assaulting 4 women.
While Nygard is expected to be extradited to the USA when his cases in Canada are concluded, his lawyers pointed out that the decision will be appealed on health grounds.
