Rescue operations launched to refloat the cargo ship that ran aground off Tekirdağ are continuing.

Operations to remove the Sao Tome and Principe-flagged cargo ship named "REGALO", carrying 27,500 tons of paddy rice, which ran aground off Süleymanpaşa district, are being carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety. Following the expiration of the period specified in the regulations, public teams took over the rescue operation in the area.

Initially, efforts will be made to rescue the ship from its current position using the General Directorate of Coastal Safety's 'Kurtarma-10' tugboat. It was learned that the operation will be strengthened and continued with the participation of high-towing capacity tugboats to be dispatched from Istanbul to the region.

The cargo ship, approximately 169 meters long and 27 meters wide, ran aground off Ceyport Port four days ago. Following the incident, Coast Guard teams dispatched to the area conducted inspections on the ship, and according to initial findings, there were no casualties or environmental pollution. - TEKİRDAĞ
