A new one was added to the awareness activities within the scope of combating addiction in Kars. While Green Crescent Social Service Specialists organized awareness training on "Gambling Addiction" for the personnel of Kars Provincial Police Department, comprehensive information was also provided about the free consultancy and rehabilitation services offered by the Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM).
In the training program, the negative effects of gambling addiction, which has become widespread especially on online platforms along with the state of technology, on individuals, families and society were discussed. Participants were informed about the symptoms of gambling addiction, risk factors, the importance of detecting addiction at an early stage and methods of combating it.
Within the scope of the program, it was also explained that YEDAM offers free and confidential psychological and social support services in the fields of alcohol, tobacco, substance, gambling and internet addiction. Police personnel pointed out the importance of inter-institutional cooperation in the fight against addiction and emphasized that directing individuals in need to YEDAM services is of great importance for social benefit.
In the question-answer section of the training, police personnel exchanged views on the situations encountered in the field in the fight against addiction, while experts clarified the curious issues.
Authorities pointed out that the fight against addiction is the common responsibility of not only health institutions, but also public institutions, non-governmental organizations and security units, and stated that such trainings make significant contributions to raising awareness in society. - KARS
