In KAYSERİ, within the scope of 'July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Events', a giant Turkish Flag with a surface area of 3 thousand 38 square meters was unfurled in the Talas district.
Citizens gathered at the Kartal Martyrs' Cemetery and walked to Cumhuriyet Square with flags in their hands. Governor Gökmen Çiçek and Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç also attended the '15 July Our Will, Our Victory March'. After the march, commemorative events were held in Cumhuriyet Square. Speaking here, Governor Gökmen Çiçek said, "Exactly 10 years ago, but it seems like yesterday, last week, last month, last year. The pain and sadness are still fresh inside us. Because they hit us from a place we did not know, we did not see. We, as the Turkish nation, knew the enemies from the very first times of history, from the moment we emerged. This nation saw the Mongols, the Crusaders, in a historical process. It fought with the Greeks. It fought with the British. We have seen disasters and earthquakes. But "We have never seen such a betrayal. The pain is still fresh. Millions of people took to the streets with the will of our President and his instruction to 'take to the streets'. That day, 200 thousand people were in the squares in Kayseri."
Metropolitan Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç said, "We were all here together 10 years ago. We were all saying 'This country is indivisible'. We were all saying 'Let's protect our flag'. We are grateful to you. We will be alert. We will not forget. We will not let you forget."
Following the program at Cumhuriyet Square, the Turkish Flag, which is 45 meters wide, 67.5 meters long and has a surface area of 3 thousand 38 square meters, was unfurled at the parachute landing area in Talas district. It has been stated that this flag is the largest Turkish flag ever unfurled.
