Erkan Taş, the chief wrestler of the 665th Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, was welcomed with enthusiasm in Durağan district of Sinop.
In addition to Erkan Taş, Mustafa Taş, who came third in the organization, and Yusuf İslam Taş, the head wrestler, and Ufuk Özünlü, who was elected as the Kırkpınar Ağa, walked to the municipality square at the entrance of the district, accompanied by drums and pipes and among the shows of love from the citizens.
In his speech here, AK Party Sinop Deputy Nazım Maviş congratulated the wrestlers and those who contributed, stating that the success achieved in Kırkpınar was the common pride of not only Durağan but all of Sinop.
Durağan Mayor Necmettin Ermiş said that the success of the wrestlers was not only a victory in the field of sports, but also an important source of inspiration for the young people of Durağan.
Stating that Erkan Taş, Mustafa Taş and Yusuf İslam Taş gave the children and young people in the farthest corner of Durağan the belief that "If we work and put in effort, we too can succeed", Ermiş said, "If they can come out of Sarıyer village and reach the top of the Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling, which is the most prestigious organization in Türkiye, our young people can be the most successful names of our country in every field. Erkan Taş also pointed out that they were proud to bring the golden belt to their hometown and said, "We never felt alone in Er Square. We always felt your prayers and support behind us. I present the golden belt to our Sinop, Durağan and all of you." he said.
Mustafa Taş thanked their fellow citizens who always supported them and emphasized that their prayers gave them strength.
