After the appeal overturned the 5-year prison sentence given to two defendants for the death of a child in the apartment on the top floor of the house where pesticides were used in Konya, the sentence of one of the defendants who was retried remained the same, while the other was acquitted.

Following the reversal decision of the Regional Court of Justice, the hearing held at the Konya 5th High Criminal Court was attended by the relatives and lawyers of the defendants Abdulkerim El A. and Ahmed El M., who were tried without arrest, and the deceased 8-year-old Ahmet Enes Temel.

Abdulkerim El A, who lives as a tenant in the house where the spraying was done, stated that he did not intend to kill anyone when he sprayed his house.

The other defendant, Ahmed El M., claimed that only the medicine was procured from him and that he had nothing to do with the incident.

While the court sentenced Ahmed El M, who sold the drug, to 5 years in prison for "negligently causing the death or injury of one or more people", it decided to acquit Abdulkerim El A, the tenant of the house.

On January 29, 2024, Abdülkerim El A, a construction worker who lived on the ground floor of a 2-storey building in Uluırmak District of Meram district, put insecticide in different parts of his house, taped the doors and windows, left the house with his family, and Ahmet Enes Temel, who came to visit his grandmother Necla Duran, who lived on the upper floor, died by poisoning from the gas leaking upstairs.

Her daughter Ayşegül Temel (40), who came to visit Necla Duran (67) for the semester break, her grandchildren Fatmanur Temel (18), Yasin Temel (15) and her other daughter's children Mine Büyükgöker (17) and Sena Gül Büyükgöker (21) were also treated in the hospital.

Konya 5th High Criminal Court sentenced both defendants to 5 years in prison for "negligently causing the death or injury of one or more people", and upon the objection of the complainant's lawyer, the decision, which went to the court of appeal, was overturned on the grounds that "incomplete research was conducted".
