While presenting the Legion d'Honneur to Starmer, Macron stated that the British Prime Minister played a historical role in creating the group of countries supporting Ukraine and said, "Dear Prime Minister Starmer, on behalf of myself and the French people, I would like to express our gratitude for the years you served as prime minister." he said.
Macron noted that Starmer took responsibility for the security of Europe, Ukraine and the relations between the two countries.
High-level representatives from 37 countries, including the UK, attended the Volunteer Coalition Summit on Ukraine held in Paris yesterday.
Starmer also attended the military parade held in Paris today on the occasion of France's July 14 National Day.
