The "15 July Living Memory Center", prepared for the 10th anniversary of the coup attempt on 15 July 2016, was opened with a ceremony in Manisa.
The center, which was created in the Fatih Exhibition Hall by Manisa Governorship under the coordination of the Presidency Directorate of Communications and prepared with the theme "The Will is Ours, the Victory is Ours", aims to keep the national memory alive, transfer the spirit of July 15 to future generations and convey Türkiye's democracy victory to visitors.
Hosting specially prepared visual designs in line with the 10th anniversary theme, the center invites its visitors to witness the memory of July 15.
Visitors have the opportunity to experience the events of the night of July 15 in chronological order, accompanied by digital content, visual narratives and virtual reality applications.
In the center, the spirit of unity and solidarity of the nation, the sacrifices of the martyrs and the struggle for democracy are conveyed to the visitors.
The center consists of four main sections: "Memory Area", "Will Area", "Martyrs' Corner" and "Victory Area".
In the centre's narrative, three basic elements are highlighted: the will of the nation, the will of the President and the will of the state, which brought July 15 to the victory of democracy.
Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan said at the opening that the coup attempt on July 15, 2016 was not only a coup attempt against the constitutional order, but also a multifaceted treason attempt targeting the will of the nation, the survival of the state, democracy and independence.
Stating that the opened center is an important education and awareness that will keep the common memory alive, strengthen the national consciousness and transfer the spirit of July 15 to future generations, Özkan thanked those who contributed.
After the opening, protocol members cut the ribbon, toured the center and received information about the works.
Chief Public Prosecutor Kurtca Eker, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General İlhan Şen, Provincial Police Chief Adnan Karayel, Manisa Celal Bayar University Rector Prof. attended the ceremony. Dr. Rana Kibar, Presidential Communications Directorate Izmir Regional Director Cengiz Kutlu Yüksel, institution directors and representatives of non-governmental organizations attended.
