A commemoration program was held in Mardin on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day with the theme "our will, our victory".
According to the statement made by Mardin Artuklu University, in the program held at the Vali Kılıçlar Hall of Atatürk Cultural Center, a moment of silence was observed, the National Anthem and the Holy Quran were read.
Speaking at the program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hıdır Apak said that July 15 is a living consciousness that should be passed on to generations.
Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Assoc. Dr. Necmettin Acar also stated that the main element that keeps Türkiye alive is the state tradition.
Acar said, "What makes us strong is the idea of the state, which establishes the link between the institutions of the state and the physical base of the state. Statelessness or a collapsed state system is a position that our society cannot imagine." he said.
At the end of the program, participants visited the 15 July photo exhibition in the event area.
Academicians, representatives of public institutions and citizens attended the event.
