A commemoration program was held in Marmaris district of Muğla on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The program, organized by the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation under the coordination of the District Governorship, with the participation of relatives of martyrs and veterans at a hotel in Siteler District, started with a moment of silence, the reading of the National Anthem and the recitation of the Holy Quran.
In his speech at the program, Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya said that they remembered with mercy the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the homeland and the survival of the state, and expressed their gratitude to the heroic veterans.
Stating that on the night of the treacherous coup attempt, every member of the nation went to the squares and protected their independence at the expense of their lives, Kaya continued his words as follows:
"That dark night, our Marmaris was one of the most important centers targeted by the treacherous coup attempt. Istanbul, Ankara and Marmaris. In our district, where our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stayed, the traitors who targeted the will of our nation could not achieve their goals, but the security forces of our state, our heroic police officers, our soldiers, our self-sacrificing public servants and our nation put up a great fight by putting their lives on the line. The sacrifices and heroism they showed are what Marmaris did on July 15. "He will always live in our memories as an unforgettable part of his saga."
Emphasizing that the families of martyrs are the most valuable trust to the state and the nation, Kaya said:
"Our state, under the leadership of our President, will continue to stand by you today and tomorrow, as it did yesterday. Our heroic veterans, you are the living honor and pride of this beloved nation. Our greatest duty is to protect the trust of our martyrs, to always support our veterans, to preserve our unity and solidarity and to continue to unite around the principle of 'one nation, one flag, one homeland, one state'. On this occasion, the heroic sons of Marmaris; Martyr Gülşah "I remember Güler, Martyr Nedip Cengiz Eker and Mehmet Çetin with mercy, gratitude and gratitude, and I commemorate all our beloved martyrs with respect."
District protocol, institution directors, families of martyrs, veterans and relatives of veterans attended the commemoration program.
