Yusuf Beyazıt, AK Party Tokat Deputy and Chairman of the Parliamentary Investigation Commission of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, stated that the risks faced by children in digital environments and the events occurring in schools have been examined in all aspects, and that comprehensive policy recommendations based on the safety of children will be prepared in the light of scientific data.
The commission, chaired by Yusuf Beyazıt, AK Party Tokat Deputy and Chairman of the Parliamentary Investigation Commission, which was established to investigate all aspects of the Incidents Occurring in Schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş and the Risks and Negative Effects Children Encounter in Digital Environments, held its 10th meeting. At the meeting; Making comprehensive evaluations about the activities carried out by the commission so far, Beyazıt said that the commission continues its activities uninterruptedly with the aim of investigating all aspects of the school incidents that deeply hurt us all, determining the measures to be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring again, and creating policy recommendations that will especially protect children against the risks of the digital age. Beyazıt stated that within the scope of the activities carried out by the commission so far, academicians, sociologists, psychologists, cyber security experts, confederations, federations, associations, unions, non-governmental organizations and representatives of organizations operating in the field of gaming and informatics have been listened to. Beyazıt at the meetings; He stated that comprehensive presentations were made on the topics of events occurring in schools, causes of violence in schools, risks faced by children in digital environments, use of social media in Türkiye and in the world, prevention of risks to children, digital games, digital addiction, digital safety and protection of children.

Stating that the commission's activities are not limited to meetings, Beyazıt said that they carried out field investigations in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa together with the commission members, and that they met with families, educators and representatives of relevant institutions in the regions where the incidents took place and evaluated the process in all its aspects.
Beyazıt stated that they carried out investigations at the Information Technologies and Communication Authority and the Department of Combating Cyber Crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Directorate of Security, within the scope of their institutional visits, and noted that they received comprehensive information from the authorities about digital risks, the fight against cyber crimes and the activities carried out for the digital safety of children. Stating that the commission's activity calendar will continue intensively in the coming period, Beyazıt stated that they will continue their comprehensive evaluations by listening to public institutions and organizations, as well as social media platforms, film and TV series production companies and other relevant stakeholders. Stating that the data obtained during the commission activities clearly demonstrated that school incidents cannot be handled only from the security perspective, Beyazıt said that the effects of children's psychological development, family structure, social environment and the digital world should be evaluated together. Stating that the effects of content that encourages violence, peer bullying, cyber bullying, digital addiction, abuse of personal data and algorithms on children have reached a level that cannot be ignored, Beyazıt stated that digital platforms are not only structures that offer content, but also global systems that shape user behavior, influence preferences and manage the attention economy. Beyazıt said, "The issue is not only the time our children spend in front of the screen. The real issue is to be able to accurately analyze how the algorithmic systems that shape our children's attention, time, world of thought and development work and to develop effective policies for this."
The basic approach of the Commission is not based on any bias; Emphasizing that the aim is to produce realistic, applicable and permanent solutions in line with scientific data, expert opinions and information obtained from field activities, Beyazıt stated that their aim is to present holistic policy proposals to the Turkish Grand National Assembly that are based on the safety of children, strengthen the family, support educational institutions and impose responsibility on digital platforms.
