A large-scale evacuation decision was taken due to the forest fire that has been going on for hours in Milas district of Muğla. As the flames approached residential areas, 350 hotels and 770 holiday sites were evacuated as a precaution, and a total of 1,120 people were sent to safe areas. 517 personnel continue to intervene in the region from the ground and aircraft from the air throughout the day.
Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık, in his statement in the flames area, stated that the intervention to the fire in Gürçamlar-Bozbük location continues uninterruptedly. Governor Akbıyık said that a comprehensive evacuation was carried out because the fire, which had been going on for about 8 hours, threatened tourism facilities.
Governor Akbıyık announced that a total of 1120 people from 350 hotels and 770 holiday sites in the region were evacuated as a precaution.
Akbıyık said, "There are holiday sites and hotels in the region. We took all the necessary precautions for the life safety of our citizens. The evacuations were carried out in a controlled manner." he said.
While 12 helicopters and 8 aircraft intervened in the fire from the air during the day, 517 personnel continued their extinguishing activities on the ground throughout the night.
There are also 62 water tankers, 29 water tankers, 11 dozers, 3 excavators, 6 first response vehicles, 4 TOMAs, 4 ambulances and many work machines on duty in the field.
Governor Akbıyık stated that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and that gendarmerie teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
Authorities reported that activities continued uninterruptedly to control the fire due to the high temperature, low humidity and wind in the region.
