The response to the forest fire in Milas district of MUĞLA continues on the 2nd day.
A forest fire broke out near Bozbük and Gürçamlar neighborhoods of Milas district around 17:00 yesterday. While the flames were spreading rapidly due to the wind, teams were dispatched to the region upon notice. Teams responded to the fire from the air and land.
Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık also went to the flames area and inspected. In his statement, Governor Akbıyık said that yesterday, before dark, the fire was intervened from the air with 12 helicopters, 8 planes, and from the land with 11 dozers, 3 excavators, 4 trailers, 62 water tankers, 6 first response vehicles, 29 water tankers, 4 TOMAs belonging to the gendarmerie and police and 517 personnel. In addition, Governor Akbıyık stated that a total of 1120 people from 350 hotels and 770 holiday sites were evacuated as a precaution. The teams worked hard throughout the night to extinguish the fire.
The aerial intervention, which was interrupted at first light of the day, was restarted with 6 helicopters and 4 aircraft. The teams are continuing to respond to the fire by air and land.
