8 hours have passed in the ongoing fire in Milas. Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık inspected the flames area and received information from the teams about the latest situation. In his statement regarding the fire, Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık said, "Today, around 17.03, a forest fire occurred in Bozbük, Gürçamlar, in our Milas district, the cause of which is not yet known. At that time, our teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were responding to 3 fires. It broke out in Ortaca, Kavaklıdere and in this region. This is our 6th fire in total today. However, the other 5 were under control." As soon as we received the news of the fire, our AFAD units, gendarmerie, police, our thermal power plants, all public institutions, our metropolitan fire brigade, Yatağan, Milas municipalities and even Didim received support together with our citizens to protect our green homeland. "We are fighting from the air during the day. 12 helicopters and 8 planes intervened from the ground. 11 dozers, 3 excavators, 4 trailers, 62 water tankers, 40 vehicles, 4 TOMAs are in the field. Our police and gendarmerie's TOMAs are also in the field. Our fight continues from the ground with 4 ambulances and 517 personnel." he said.
Governor Akbıyık stated that 1120 people were evacuated and said, "Of course, there are holiday sites and hotels in the region. We evacuated a total of 1120 citizens from 350 hotels and 770 holiday sites as a precaution. Of course, the direction of the wind, humidity and land conditions are undoubtedly effective in the spread of the fire. All our units are fighting with all their might. I wish Milas, Muğla and our country get well soon. I hope we can get it under control as soon as possible. The reason is not clear yet. Our gendarmerie is investigating and hopefully we will detect him as soon as possible." he said.
