Muş Governor Avni Çakır published a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
In his message, Çakır stated that July 15 was one of the most glorious resistances in history, in which the beloved nation declared to the whole world its determination to protect its independence, future and national will.
Emphasizing that the epic written that night was not only about preventing a coup attempt, but also an unforgettable sign that the nation protected its state, flag and democracy at the expense of its life, Çakır said:
"On the night of July 15, 2016, the traitors who targeted the survival of the Republic of Turkey, its constitutional order and the national will found a will much stronger than tanks and weapons. Millions who rushed to the squares under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, prevented treason with faith, courage and love of the country and said, 'Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation.' It has shown the whole world that the principle is not just a word, but the unshakable character of this nation. Thanks to the sacrifice of our martyrs and the heroism of our veterans, July 15 has taken a special place in our nation's memory as one of the greatest victories in the history of our democracy. Our citizens from Muş also became an honorable part of this great epic with the dignified stance they displayed on that dark night, their devotion to the national will and their love of the homeland. "The spirit of unity and solidarity displayed in the squares maintains its place in memories as one of the most meaningful indicators of the strong national consciousness of our city."
Stating that the intervening years have not diminished the meaning of July 15, on the contrary, they have increased the responsibility it places on us, Çakır continued as follows:
"Today, our duty is to protect the legacy of our martyrs, to protect our national unity and solidarity under all circumstances, to strengthen our democracy and to build a stronger future together in line with the goals of the Turkey Century. With these feelings and thoughts, we remember with mercy, gratitude and gratitude all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country, especially our July 15 martyrs, and wish health and well-being to our heroic veterans, and celebrate the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day." I hope that it will always strengthen the spirit of unity, solidarity and brotherhood that we have as a nation."
