There is a density of visitors at the grave of Infantry Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Ömer Halisdemir, who was martyred after shooting the coup plotter general at the Special Forces Command in Ankara during the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization on July 15, 2016, in the Çukurkuyu town of Niğde's Bor district.

Many citizens who come to visit the grave of the martyr read the Quran and pray.

Süleyman Karaarslan, who came from Konya's Ereğli district and visited the grave of the martyr, said that 10 years have passed since the treacherous FETO coup attempt, but the heroes will never be forgotten.

Stating that they came to visit with his brother Mehmet Karaarslan, a Cyprus veteran, Karaarslan said, "May God never let those days happen again. These lands were not won easily. No one should try to repeat such a thing again. We prayed, we had goosebumps. This country owes a lot to this man." he said.

One of the visitors, Yasin Ağırtopçu, stated that he came from Kayseri and visited the grave of martyr Ömer Halisdemir.

Ağırtopçu stated that he felt emotional at the martyr's grave and said:

"We came here to pray. May God not let such an incident happen again. Our martyr was our great pride, he saved our nation. We owe a lot to him. It was the first time we had the chance to come here, we came with my wife and children. We wanted our children to see such a hero, so we came as a family. May our nation live long. My son was born in July and he is 9 years old, so I named him Ömer. One of our Omars is gone, but many more Omars will come."

Ali Niğdelioğlu also said that he came from Istanbul and visited the grave of the martyr with his son.

Explaining that he tries to visit Halisdemir's grave every year whenever he gets the chance, Niğdelioğlu said, "We feel a little bittersweet. Such a patriot will never come again. One gets emotional here, and at the same time, we are proud. We had come and visited before, I came with my family. Such a hero will not be forgotten." he said.

Fadimana Dalkılıç also stated that she came to visit the grave of Halisdemir, who sacrificed himself for his country.
