Ondokuz Mayıs University Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın said, "The state-nation integration that came into being on the night of July 15, 2016 has disappointed those who tried to put a mortgage on our future by shattering the shirt of slavery that was tried to be put on us."
In the "15 July with its Traces and Lessons" panel organized by OMÜ within the scope of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day commemoration events, the 15 July 2016 coup attempt was discussed from different aspects. The program, held at the OMÜ Distance Education Center (UZEM) Conference Hall, started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. In the continuation of the program, OMÜ Faculty of Theology Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Quran recitation was performed by Mustafa Kara for the martyrs.

Speaking at the panel, Rector Aydın said, "The history of world democracy has witnessed many resistances. However, the unprecedented solidarity demonstrated by the Turkish nation by shielding its chest from the barrels turned against it has a nature that goes beyond our borders in terms of nullifying imperialist ambitions. The state-nation integration that came into being on the night of July 15, 2016, shattered the shirt of slavery that was attempted to be put on us and disappointed those who tried to mortgage our future. On July 15, Our beloved nation, who is being victimized by traitors, says, 'I'd be surprised which crazy person would chain me!' With his challenge, he once again showed to friends and foes that he was the heir of a proud past. The spirit of resistance displayed that night has become institutionalized and rooted in our social memory and turned into an unshakable resurrection consciousness that will be passed on to future generations. When we look back at the end of the past ten years, Anatolian children who did not bow to humiliation became the hope of oppressed geographies with their determination to build a future with their heads held high. Our greatest responsibility is to pass on the lessons we learned from this great struggle to future generations. We have to always keep the place of July 15 alive in our social memory, to reinforce our sense of national unity and solidarity under all circumstances, and to carry the consciousness of democracy, national will and independence to the future on your shoulders. "Because July 15 is not just the elimination of a treason network," he said.
