A harvest net distribution ceremony was held in Fatsa district of Ordu.
According to the statement made by the Governorship, Fatsa Deputy Mayor Muharrem Okyay Sarıhan spoke at the ceremony held within the scope of the Turkey Resilient Landscape Integration Project (TULIP), Bolaman River Basin Rehabilitation Project and the Facilitation of Hazelnut Harvesting Procedures Project to be implemented in 2026.
Sarıhan stated that within the scope of the project, it is planned to provide harvest nets to 82 producers for a total area of 750 decares, with 70 percent grant support.
Referring to the importance of using nets in hazelnut harvesting, Sarıhan noted that this application, which reduces labor force, accelerates the harvest process, prevents product losses and reduces the risk of aflatoxin, will provide producers with a more efficient, economical and high-quality harvest period.
Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Bayram Ay also stated that the harvest net not only reduces costs, but also contributes to hazelnut quality and saves time.
Stating that the harvest net reduces the risk of aflatoxin and increases the product quality by preventing the hazelnuts from coming into contact with the soil, Ay emphasized that the project is important in terms of reducing harvest costs.
After the speeches, harvest nets were delivered to the producers by Governor Muammer Erol and protocol members.
District Governor Mustafa Ünver Böke, District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Vedat Aydoğan, Soil Products Office Army Chief Manager Yusuf Akay, Fatsa Chamber of Agriculture President Haydar Gürsu and producers attended the ceremony.
