AK Party Muğla Deputy Yakup Otgöz, in a message released on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, stated, "We will not forget the treacherous coup attempt, and we will not let it be forgotten."
In his message, Otgöz stated that the FETÖ coup attempt on July 15, 2016, was thwarted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's resolute stance and the Turkish nation's defense of its homeland at the cost of their lives.
Emphasizing that July 15 is a day of victory and resurgence for the national will, Otgöz noted the following in his message:
"Friends and foes alike should know well that we did not easily win these lands, nor will we easily lose them. July 15 is our honor and medal of glory. I extend my gratitude to my fellow citizens from Muğla who played a significant role in preventing the coup by valiantly protecting our President in Marmaris that night, and I commemorate our esteemed martyrs with mercy and our veterans with gratitude."
