AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir said, "After July 15, after we got rid of those traitorous, FETO elements in our army, we finished the fight against terrorism in a very short time. As part of the events commemorating the 10th anniversary of the July 15 treacherous coup attempt, citizens continue to flock to the Memory July 15 Museum, one of the landmarks. As part of the visits, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir also visited the museum.
Stating that they are at a very important point, Özdemir said, "We are here in our Memory 15 July area with the shoes of our martyrs, many of their belongings, and the images of that night. This is an important point. At the same time, we have just walked on a bridge that was named after our martyrs and watered with their blood, while it was the Bosphorus Bridge. We came to our monument, starting from Zincirlikuyu. In the morning, we visited our martyrs at our martyrs' cemetery in Edirnekapı, together with their families. We prayed. It is a very important day, a very special day for our nation. We are in the 10th year of a history where another victory took place, like the Çanakkale Victory. On July 15, the nature of a nation that puts its head and body to tanks, rifles and cannons has emerged again, a common struggle of our local and national people, regardless of their party. "It was a night where it showed," he said.
"Everything that is forgotten is repeated. We need to be alert"
"We spent July 15 at Atatürk Airport with me, my wife, and my 3-year-old son." Özdemir said, "It was a night when the fear of death was truly stripped from our bodies. We saw it here, too. We saw it here in the images on the Bosphorus Bridge. We buried 34 of our martyrs here. With their blood, this bridge gained importance in a different sense. 98 martyrs sacrificed themselves for their homeland in Istanbul, 253 martyrs in many parts of our country. We are grateful to thousands of our veterans, they gained a different meaning that night. Millions of our people were about to be martyred that night, one day." You, as candidates for martyrdom, we were on the field. We, as members of the media, had an important test that night. We actually fought this fight together with all our elements, and Alhamdulillah, our nation survived. But we should not forget, everything that is forgotten will be repeated. We need to be vigilant. "It is necessary to have awareness as well," he said.
