Özgür Özel met with the families of martyrs and veterans and listened to their demands and problems. Making a statement to the journalists afterwards, Özel said, "We are in the weeks when the Parliament will be closed. The Parliament has a tradition. An arrangement for the families of martyrs and veterans, an arrangement that receives general support in the society, is handled on a non-partisan basis and in the closing week of the Parliament, it is due to the glory and honor of the Parliament and the trust in it. Such laws can be passed unanimously without talking about them or wasting time. This has been done several times in the past when we were on duty. However, there is not enough public opinion on the problems of the families of martyrs and veterans." There is no information here. Let me repeat once again: There are 7,500 of our veterans who became veterans during the fight against terrorism, some of whom lost their limbs, some of whom became deaf, some of whom lost their limbs, some of whom lost their health as a result of serious injuries, and the families of those who were martyred. Normally, when a high-ranking personnel is martyred somewhere or becomes a veteran, his/her counterparts become captains and majors, just like their counterparts during the time they were not serving in the army. They become lieutenant colonels, their rights and salaries increase until the rank of colonel. However, if the same thing happens to a private, it is as if the Ministry of National Defense did not enlist him in the army. There is no difference between them, they recruit one of them, they call it a 'debt of the nation', and they only feed themselves. If something happens to one of them, the salary increases for the rest of their lives and says to this side, 'You are the national. 'You are not the subject of the defence.' "The regulation to be made for 7,500 people will not take half an hour in the commission or 7.5 minutes in the Parliament," he said.
Özel said, "I just made a call from the group podium in the Parliament. Our expectation from all political parties is that the bill is ready, let's surrender its rights. Discrimination among martyrs, discrimination among veterans, and discrimination in rights must all end. That's why this bill, which will cover all of these, must be passed unanimously and unanimously," he said.
