Chest Diseases Specialist Prof. Dr. Tevfik Özlü issued warnings regarding the increasing cases of diarrhea caused by the consumption of food and beverages sold openly during the summer months, stating, "It manifests with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, and frequent bowel movements. In such cases, if the person appears healthy, they should rest immediately and consume plenty of fluids."

Chest Diseases Specialist Prof. Dr. Tevfik Özlü warned that with rising air temperatures, there could be an increase in conditions known as 'summer diarrhea' or 'traveler's diarrhea'. Prof. Dr. Özlü stated that it is more difficult to control food safety and hygiene, especially during holidays, adding, "During the summer months, especially during holidays and travel, we frequently encounter summer diarrhea. In infants, children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic diseases, diarrhea can disrupt balance and lead to serious consequences. It can often be due to bacterial and viral infections. Sometimes, it can also be caused by food poisoning, transmitted by flies, or contracted from swimming pools. Foods sold openly and not stored under appropriate conditions, dairy products, pastries, and open kitchens can easily foster bacterial growth, leading to food poisoning."

Prof. Dr. Tevfik Özlü advised against consuming soft drinks sold openly, stating, "It manifests with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, and frequent bowel movements. In such cases, if the person appears healthy, they should rest immediately and consume plenty of fluids. They should drink water, mineral water, and salty ayran. Fibrous and fatty foods should be avoided. With what we call the 'diarrhea diet' – consuming bananas, potatoes, rice porridge, bread crumb, and fat-free cheese – you can recover within 2 days. If symptoms are severe, or if the person is elderly, an infant, or has a chronic illness, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Fluid loss can lead to serious damage. Healthy and hygienic eating is very important. Random foods should not be consumed. Particular attention should be paid to foods eaten during the summer months. Soft drinks are sold openly, or olive oil salads are left out. One should also avoid poorly ventilated environments. In towns and small places, open ayran and grape sherbets are sold. Drinks filled into iced and open containers for sale are not safe; they should be avoided."
