Ataturk University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hacımüftüoğlu published a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
Rector Hacımüftüoğlu included the following statements in his message: We commemorate the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, where our beloved nation made history by defending its will, democracy and independence; We perceive it with a deep sense of respect and gratitude as one of the strongest manifestations of unity, solidarity and love of the country.
On the night of July 15, 2016, the treacherous coup attempt that targeted the survival of our state, the free will of our nation and our constitutional order; Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, it was eliminated thanks to the courage, foresight and unwavering determination of our beloved nation, and it was once again shown to the whole world that there is no power above the national will. That night, millions of our citizens, men, women, young and old, protected their homeland, flag and democracy by disregarding their lives; He wrote a great heroic epic written in golden letters in history. July 15 is not just a date when a coup attempt was prevented; It is also a historical turning point where our nation declared to the whole world that it would never give up its independence and future, and where the spirit of national unity and solidarity came into being in the strongest way. The dignified stance displayed by our beloved nation that night clearly demonstrated that no dark focus can achieve its goals if we act in unity and solidarity. As Atatürk University, which directs the future with the strength it draws from its deep-rooted history, we; We see it as one of our most important responsibilities to raise generations that are committed to national and spiritual values, uphold democratic values, love their homeland, and are equipped with knowledge and morality. Universities are not only institutions that produce science; At the same time, they are institutions that keep social memory alive, strengthen national consciousness and build the future. With this awareness, we will continue to transfer the spirit of July 15 to future generations and to keep the consciousness of national unity alive. With these feelings and thoughts; We commemorate with mercy, gratitude and gratitude all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our country in the treacherous coup attempt of July 15; I wish our hero veterans a healthy and peaceful life.
