Seeing the economic difficulties experienced by couples getting married in Rize, a tradesman put a 'Help money box for couples getting married' in his business and received appreciation.
Serdar Keskin, who runs a technology repair shop in a passage in Rize's Tophane District, has undertaken an extraordinary social responsibility project to support young people who have difficulty in the face of increasing wedding costs. The sensitive tradesman, who placed a piggy bank on his desk in his business and wrote "Help money box for couples who are getting married" on it, received the appreciation of both his customers and the people of Rize passing by.
Stating that he felt the need to do something like this after seeing people having difficulties in the marriage phase, Serdar Keskin said, "People are in the marriage phase, I have seen those difficulties a lot. We all had a little difficulty in this process we went through ourselves. This age is also a bit of a difficult age. This affected me very much. People do not contribute much to each other in marriages in this age. What can I do? How can I contribute to people getting married? I thought of doing this in a different concept like this. This came to my mind. When I saw different things in everyone's shop, I said, 'How can I make this better?' "I chose this path and I believe that I was very useful in this path. Many people were very impressed by it. When most of the people who came to my shop saw this, they thought of doing it themselves and thought of putting it in their own shops. I believe this is a good move and I want it to spread."
Stating that the people who saw it found it interesting but everyone appreciated it, Keskin said, "People find it very interesting. I can say that it is the first time they see something like this, even though they travel around all the time, and these reactions make me very happy. We received nice, positive things in return. It definitely paid off, and we are trying to contribute to it in this process, regardless of who the people are, the people getting married, even if it is any person, in line with their wishes. We contribute to their payments and debts to some extent."
Adding that there are couples who stop by and thank us after receiving the money accumulated in the charity box, Keskin said, "People who get married, some people also mediate this. There are good people, there are good people like you, there are people who contribute like that. As a result of these, when we take away some of their things and burdens, they come and stop by again later. They express their happiness, some people thank us for their contributions. We are happy about this."
A citizen named Serkan Şenkaya, who noted that he also tries to support whenever he visits the business, said, "I love people who help and do charity both individually and collectively. I visit Serdar Bey from time to time for business reasons. I saw a money box for couples who are getting married here, I liked it very much. When I visit for business, I try to provide moral and material support as much as I can."
Yasin Mani, who claimed that the piggy bank caught his attention when he first saw it and that this practice should be spread, said, "We saw a box that caught our attention.
