Those who visit the Çilekli District, named after strawberry production in Sakarya's Pamukova district, have the opportunity to pick the strawberries they will buy from the field.
Çilekli District attracts the attention of visitors during the summer months with both its production and the harvest experience it offers in touch with nature.
While almost every family in the neighborhood grows strawberries, the fields welcome their guests during the harvest season, which runs from June to November.
Visitors can pick the fruit themselves in baskets if they wish, eat as many strawberries as they want during the harvest, and have a pleasant time. Strawberry juice is also offered to guests.
Sezgin İzmir, who produces strawberries, told the AA reporter that domestic strawberry production has been done since the 1960s and the season lasts 6 months.
İzmir stated that the source of income in the region is primarily provided by strawberry production, and strawberry farming has become a culture since the 2000s.
Pointing out that the popularity of the region has increased with the spread of the use of social media, Izmir said, "Many people come from Sakarya and surrounding provinces. Those who want to pick their own strawberries, those who want to buy them ready-made. Generally, they prefer to pick them. Eating strawberries is free, anyone can eat as many strawberries as they want. They leave here on a nice note, and then they come back with their friends." he said.
