Protocol members in Sakarya published messages on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sarıbıyık stated that the treacherous coup attempt of July 15, which targeted the existence of the state, the unity of the nation and the national will, was eliminated with the courage and determined stance of the nation.
Sarıbıyık stated that the citizens who took to the squares defended their homeland, flag and future at the expense of their lives and that the nation is the owner of the will, and showed the whole world that the victory is the common work of those united around this will.
Serdivan Mayor Osman Çelik also stated that July 15 was the turning point in which the nation's struggle to protect its independence and future was shown to the whole world.
Emphasizing that the emerging spirit of solidarity will keep faith in the future alive, Çelik noted that they will continue to stand with the same determination today as they did yesterday against all kinds of threats to the national will.
Sakarya Bar Association President Musa Adıyaman noted that the coup attempt targeting the democratic constitutional order and the rule of law was eliminated by the common will of the nation.
Stating that commitment to the rule of law and democratic legitimacy under all circumstances is a lesson that should be learned from the past, Adıyaman said that he commemorates those who were martyred to defend democracy and national will with mercy and veterans with gratitude and respect.
Democratic Party Sakarya Provincial Chairman Zafer Adalet stated that one of the greatest responsibilities towards the nation is not only to commemorate July 15, but also to learn from what happened that day.
Justice stated that the only measure of the state is the law and its only power is the nation.
